Event Report: WEWORLD CAREER EXPO, an Education-Led Career Event Bridging the Gap in International Talent Recruitment

Participating companies praised the event for providing insight into students’ Japanese language skills, personalities, and aptitude. With a focus on quality, the event provided a seamless process from company presentations through to individual interviews.

GLOBAL REACH, an international talent recruitment service operated by WEWORLD Inc. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Masaaki Ogino), held the “WEWORLD CAREER EXPO,” a recruitment event for international talent, over two days on Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Takadanobaba Campus of ISI Career and Language Academy.

The event featured a unique two-day program, with a joint company information session on the first day followed by interviews on the second. Companies from a wide range of industries, including hospitality, transportation, nursing care, and recruitment, participated in the event and met with many students as potential candidates for employment.

Why the Quality of Connections Matters Now More Than Ever

Against the backdrop of Japan’s labor shortage, large-scale recruitment events for international talent have become increasingly active, with a growing number of job seekers turning to these events in their search for employment.

At the same time, even with opportunities to meet many student job seekers, recruiters often struggle to assess their Japanese language proficiency and identify candidates who meet their specific hiring needs. They also face the challenge of reviewing a large volume of applications.

To meet the need for an efficient way to find talent who are truly suited to a company’s business needs, GLOBAL REACH has introduced a unique approach at the WEWORLD CAREER EXPO that focuses not simply on the number of matches, but on the quality of connections that lead to successful hiring and long-term retention.

A Thorough Screening Process Before the Interview Session

GLOBAL REACH’s strength lies in its strong network of educational institutions, including ISI Japanese Language School, one of the largest Japanese language schools in Japan. By working closely with educators who know each student’s Japanese language abilities, experience, and strengths, GLOBAL REACH regularly interviews and supports a pool of candidates who meet companies’ hiring needs.

At the WEWORLD CAREER EXPO, students who apply for interviews with participating companies are also carefully screened through preliminary interviews and assessments, helping create high-quality connections for both candidates and employers.

As a result, participating companies can confidently and efficiently interview students who closely match their company culture and hiring requirements, leading to successful recruitment outcomes.

Through this focus on high-quality matching, eight companies from a range of industries, including hospitality, transportation, nursing care, and recruitment, took part in the interview session. A total of 85 interviews were conducted—an average of 10.6 interviews per company.

A Strong Candidate Pool Built Through Close Collaboration with ISI Japanese Language School

This approach is made possible through our close ties with the ISI Japanese Language School Group, part of the WEWORLD Group. With access to a large pool of students at ISI, which has one of the largest international student populations in Japan (※), we work closely with teachers who understand each student’s personality, Japanese language proficiency, and commitment to employment. This enables us to introduce international talent to employers with a clear understanding of each candidate as an individual.

As the event continues to grow, this year saw an increase in registrations from talented international students attending other leading universities, further broadening the pool of candidates we can introduce to employers. We successfully connected companies hiring under the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services and Specified Skilled Worker residence statuses with candidates who matched their specific hiring needs.

Interview results are typically available within one to two weeks, after which successful candidates move on to the next stage toward receiving a job offer. By bringing together education, recruitment, and support across the group, we provide seamless assistance throughout the entire process—from preliminary screening and interviews to follow-up support after candidates join a company—delivering high-quality recruitment services for international talent.

Supporting Not Only Students, but Also Companies in Building an Inclusive Workplace

GLOBAL REACH’s services go beyond developing and introducing student talent. Drawing on the expertise gained through our experience in education, we also provide consulting services to companies hiring international talent for the first time, supporting them in developing recruitment plans, handling residence status requirements, and establishing internal systems needed to welcome international employees.

We also place importance on helping companies that may expect international candidates to meet the same standards as Japanese employees develop a better understanding of what it means to hire international talent and the benefits they can bring to the workplace.

GLOBAL REACH’s strength lies not only in connecting companies with the right talent, but also in supporting both students and employers throughout the process to help new hires settle in, succeed, and continue to thrive after joining the company.
