The Value and Future Prospects of Highly Skilled Chinese Language Professionals in the Global Business Market

The “highly skilled Chinese language professionals” our students aspire to become are gaining attention as a valuable and specialized career path in today’s global business market, where demand remains high and qualified talent is in short supply.

Growing Recruitment Demand:
A total of 13,034 companies have expanded into China, Japan’s largest trading partner, according to a 2024 survey by Teikoku Databank. Recently, Chinese companies have also accelerated their expansion into Japan, particularly in the IT, EV, and entertainment sectors, driving strong demand for Chinese-speaking talent—second only to English.

A History in HSK Development, and an Education Focused on Achieving Level 6, the Highest Level
While Chinese language departments in many universities generally aim achieving HSK Levels 4~5 before graduation, the Tokyo College has adopted the curriculum of its Beijing main campus, which led the development of the HSK in 1984. As a core pillar of its education, the College aims for students to attain Level 6—the highest level—and to develop practical communication skills for real business settings.

Going beyond language study, we remain committed to nurturing highly skilled professionals with advanced expertise who can connect Japan with the world.

Beijing Language and Culture University, Tokyo College Overview

Beijing Language and Culture University (Beijing, China) is the only university in China specializing in Chinese language education for international students since its establishment in 1962. For many years, it has been a global leader in Chinese language education, and Beijing Language and Culture University, Tokyo College was opened in 2015 as its overseas branch campus.

Students can earn the same degree and follow an equivalent curriculum to the Beijing main campus while studying in Japan, within a multicultural environment often described as a “Small United Nations,” where students from diverse national backgrounds come together. Through high-quality education by native speaking faculty, along with minor courses such as international economics and English, students develop advanced expertise and an international perspective.

In addition, the university offers a study abroad program at the Beijing main campus, available to all interested students. As credits earned during the program can be applied toward graduation requirements, students are able to make the most of their four years while preparing to succeed on the global stage.
