ISI Global Inc. will join the Welcome Japan CxO Council, a community of business leaders and companies aiming to create a refugee-inclusive market. The Welcome Japan CxO Council was launched on February 19, 2024 by the general incorporated association Welcome Japan.
This is an attempt by ISI Global, which is engaged in support activities such as the “Special Scholarship Program for Refugees,” to further collaborate with various companies to solve social issues. Company president Ogino also gave a speech as a participating business leader at the press conference held at the Diet Members’ Building on March 19.
Excerpt from President Ogino’s speech:
Since 2022, we have established a special scholarship program for refugees, offering free Japanese language education for up to two years at a Japanese language school operated by our group to those who have fled to Japan due to war, conflict, or persecution. To date, we have accepted 36 people with refugee backgrounds.
We believe that language acquisition and social participation are important issues to tackle in order to live an independent life in Japan. Based on our curriculum specialized in assisting students with entering higher education or finding employment in Japan, international students from over 120 countries and regions come to Japan and study Japanese at our schools every day. Students on this special scholarship program also study Japanese in the same classroom.
We would like to continue contributing to refugee support through this program.
